TO ALL INCOMING GRADE 8 STUDENTS 2006-2007…

GREETINGS!

Until now, I am still getting responses regarding the last blog homework/assignment thru my e-mail…I’ve had it and enough is enough!...from this point onwards, WHOEVER DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO READ & UNDERSTAND & FOLLOW DIRECTIONS PROPERLY automatically gets a ZERO and will be very very sorry once we get to meet in August…again, not a threat…a PROMISE!

Here’s your next blog homework/assignment which I WANT YOU TO RESPOND TO HERE ON BLOGSPOT---NOT THRU E-MAIL!!! You have until Sunday, 23 July 2006, to respond to this.

In 10-12 sentences, what do you find most interesting and important in people you like to refer to as friends? You can talk about the different degrees of friendships that you have such as simple acquaintances, friends, good friends, and best friends. In discussing your response, give concrete examples to further illustrate what you truly feel about this topic of discussion…!”

Remember…you have two weeks to respond to this…! I am just closing the comment portion to the last blog now because my access to an internet here in California is kind of irregular since I keep traveling around…I’ll be in Las Vegas from Monday to Wednesday next week…then San Francisco…then Seattle, Washington…then New York…then Washington, DC…then back here again in Los Angeles first week of August. Please do not expect me to be able to respond immediately to whatever queries you are going to send me in my e-mail…thank you.

Take care all of you and be safe always…keep studying & learning while you enjoy your summer vacation---it’ll truly make life much easier for you when you enter my English classes next year! Send my regards to your families and be good always. God Bless…CIAO!!!

Other than your family, your friends will be the next face you’ll see most of the time. That’s why you should choose your friends carefully, because you will need them for the rest of your life! My definition of “friend” is: 1) someone who’s there for you, and 2) someone who you enjoy being with. Friends are known to help each other. However, when your friend got in trouble, don’t go, “Oh my gosh! You are so doomed!” Once, I did something (it’s an accident) and I felt bad. One of my friends came and told me, “You are in a big trouble! So and so is angry!” Perhaps that friend didn’t notice it but, boy, I can tell you, that really freaked me out badly. That’s why you should always tell your friend to calm down, and tell them what you think they could do. Being with your friend should make you feel free and comfortable. I’ve read a book called “She’s Back!” It’s about a girl who went to a new school. After a few years, the girl finds her old friend to do a favor. The old friend starts to hang out with the girl ever since. However, the old friend makes fun of the girl’s new friend and the girl feels uncomfortable around the old friend. Finally, the girl fights with the old friend and later, everything turns out all right. I’ve seen a lot of story like this, for example, “Mean Girls” (though it’s a bit different). It’s always a relief to see the main character find a true friend, but in real life, some people always live their life like a hypocrite. That, my friend, doesn’t make you feel good, at all. Trust me, I’ve been through something like this before. I can’t really tell you because it’s a long time ago, and I can’t remember why I don’t like that friend. Anyway, I do remember how bad it feels to have to do things to impress that friend and how I can’t argue with the friend’s opinion. Now, I broke the spell and I feel relieve. I can’t tell you how good it feels to stop living in somebody else’s shoe anymore.

In my opinion, a friend should be able to give you good suggestion when you are facing a problem and will get through the problem with you. Be polite to each other and discuss things peacefully. Friends should be able to accept you and listen to your idea whether they are the same or not. They should listen to you when you have something to say. They should be with you all the time, get through the good times and the bad times. Friends should treat each other good and should stand on each other’s side. A friend should be to keep a secret for you. To be a friend, we should have to have the same thinking and have almost have the same opinion. There might be a lot of friends and good friends, but not everyone will be you BEST friend. Best friends should have to accomplish all of above and even more!

Well, I can refer to a friend as a loyal companion that will forever stick by my side even in the times of chaos and awful moments. A friend would listen to my every complaint, grief, and dilemma. A friend would be able to give me advice about my problems and keep my classified things classified. A friend is a person that I can compromise with and share my feelings with. That however would be a description of a true best friend. Usually a simple acquaintance would only share my own interest, so we just have a simple conversation. A simple acquaintance would be someone who I just happen to see five minutes a day. A friend would simply share my hobbies and help me sometimes, and would be someone who I know and spend time with me. However a good friend would be all the characteristics of a friend, but I would know a good friend better, and could count on him more often. A best friend would have all the features of a good friend and be able to always to trust and talk with about my personal life. Lastly I want to quote C.S. Lewis saying which is “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: “What! You, too? Thought I was the only one.”

Friends are one of the most important thing you will need in your life. A friend should be able to help each another when one of you need help. A friend is a person who stay on your side to help you. A friend will keep secrets for you and will never tell. A friend is a person that you trust in. To be a friend is not hard. You just have to have the ability to listen, to help and the most important is to trust in other people. If you don't trsut in other people, you will not be interacting with the people that you don't trust in. In my thinkings friends can be in two groups, which is the good and the bad groups. The friends in the good group is the friends who will help you, who listens to you, who plays with you, who always will be your good friends. Friends in the bad groups are who will peer pressure you to do bad things, who will teach bad things to you, who always are at the bad side, who you become bad with. The friends who really cares about me, who trust in me, who don't peer pressure me, who plays with me, who help me when, who always listen to me when i need a talk, i need help i call that as "BEST FRIEND". The people who teaches bad things to me i don't even call that as a friend, i call that as "BAD PEOPLE". My parents always tell me that i have to choose my friends carefully or else i might chose bad people as my friend, if so i will really be a bad person and it will really influence the rest of my life.
