TO ALL MY GRADE 9 STUDENTS...

Just a quick reminder...

FIRST...Literature 9B and 9C only...evaluate your members' performance in today's discussion of Scenes 6 and 7...I want bullet point and/or paragraph evaluation on a WSP...not number evaluation. Literature 9A will do this next week...!

SECOND...check out our Calendar of Events for the rest of the Quarter on EDLINE...!

That's All Folks! Have a great four-day weekend...be safe...CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY LITERATE GRADE 9 STUDENTS...

SAWASDEE PHI MAI, KHRAP!

Before anything else, let me wish you and your families a wonderful Thai New Year and a safe and fun-filled Songkran Break...!

Now...down to business...! I have a number of SONGKRAN BREAK HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS for you to work on given the 10 days you are going to "miss" seeing me and/or “miss” being in my class.

FIRST…you have the entire Songkran Break to read and take notes on the novel The Glass Menagerie…at this point in time, if you suddenly stop and ask yourself the question, “What Glass Menagerie?”…then you are in deep, deep, deep trouble simply because despite the number of times I repeated this in class and even wrote it on the board for you to see, you chose not to listen and did not bother checking out the book from the library like I told you to do…!

SECOND…you should start planning and working on your ODYSSEY movie clip as early as now. I am going to ask for an update from every group on what you have already accomplished by the time we hit the last week of April. Make sure to take note of the workers and the slackers in your group for peer rating purposes…!

THIRD…since all classes have discussed ACT ONE of Romeo & Juliet, then expect your MT on that act the day we get back from Songkran Break…do not bother asking me whether it is in objective form or paragraph writing form because I will not tell you…!

FOURTH…on an A4/F12/DS/TNR, write me a two page essay of how your Songkran Break is…try to be as honest as possible in relating the events that transpired during your holidays…if it was boring, then write about it…if it was fun, then tell me what made it fun. Here’s the catch, you have to apply any one of the styles of writing found in our Literary Terms List that is suited for your essay. If you do not know what those styles are…then it means you have been a “parrot” long enough that it is time you learned how to apply those terms…!

FIFTH…send me, through this blog, the names of the people in your group for the choral recitation and the piece you have chosen to work on and present. During the week we get back, I am going to find the time to call people and their groups in front to deliver the piece altogether…!

SIXTH…you will be having your Second MT on the Literary Terms as soon as we get back from the break…those who got their first perfect score already, two to go…!

LASTLY…start putting together ALL the Words To Own vocabs and their meanings from all the stories we have read from our text…from The Most Dangerous Game to Romeo and Juliet. If I am not mistaken, there are about seven stories at the moment…more to come…!

That’s All Folks! Have a Safe and Wonderful Songkran Break and come back refreshed and ready to Rock-N-Roll for the final stretch of the year. This is it…the end zone…you have to give it all you got since there is no more room for “I’ll do better next quarter.” Be good and get all your homework/assignments out of the way as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your break to the max…CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY LITERATURE 9 STUDENTS...

GREETINGS!

I purposely did not post this immediately since it is not due just yet...it is simply something to remind you of what's in stored in Literature 9 in the next few weeks.

FIRST...go over the scenes you performed from our Romeo & Juliet Presentations and understand exactly what is going on in those scenes; make sure you try to understand the conversations you delivered and what their sentences meant and who they were referring to; you need not write it down just yet, unless you want to...!

SECOND...try to see if you can already choose which scene you intend to work on from the ODYSSEY...this way, when I put you in groups next week, you can immediately begin your project...!

THIRD...for the Fourth Quarter, I am only going to record three (3) Mastery Tests on your Literary Terms; it'll go this way...if you get three consecutive perfect scores, then you no longer have to take it anymore until the end of the year...consecutive meaning one perfect score after the other with no gaps; however, for people who are unable to get a perfect score, they will continuously take it until the end of the year or until they get those three consecutive perfect scores as well; this'll mean that we are going to have a Literary Terms Test every week or once every two weeks...announced and unannounced...!

LASTLY...we will be having our group/choral recitation of the poems I gave you to choose from by the time we get back from our Songkran Break...most probably around first week of May 2008; I have copied what I sent before just in case you forgot already...remember, you can only choose from the list below...

Find six to eight other people you can recite it with; when I say recite, I mean proper recitation with feelings and emotions, proper pauses, and in unison; think of it in terms of a choral recitation!

- The Lesson Of The Moth (p.140)
- Daily (p.495)
- I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud (p.510)
- Beware: Do Not Read This Poem (p.531)
- The Seven Ages Of Man (pp.536-537)
- The Gift (p.564)
- Fifteen (p.571)
- The Girl who Loved The Sky (pp.576-577)
- Ain't I A Woman? (p.611)
- Your Laughter (p.853)

That's All Folks!!! See you all next week...be good...study well...and stay safe...get enough rest to prepare you for your Stanford 9 Testing Sessions! CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY LITERATURE 9 STUDENTS...

KHONG XI FAH CHAI...HONG PAO NA LAI?!

Here are your Chinese New Year Break homework/assignments...I promised you it won't be much, so that's exactly what it'll be.

FIRST...start/continue memorizing your R&J lines...as soon as we get back from the break, we are immediately going to have an Oral Test without using the textbook...!

SECOND...we will be having your postponed Literary Terms Test on the first day we meet as a class...50 words out of 100...!

THIRD...we will be discussing your last novel the week after we get back from the break...either WOO, TKMB, or PB...so reread it if you have to and review your notes on it...!

LASTLY...Read and understand The Gift of the Magi, pages 202-207 of your text; take notes and focus on the twist that happened in the story; answer numbers 1-8 of page 209 in your notebook...!

That's All Folks! Finish all your homework/assignments immediately so you can enjoy your break more...do not procrastinate and leave it off to the weekend before school starts. Take care and be safe always if ever you are going out of town or out of the country...be ready to Rock-N-Roll as soon as we get back...and of course...enjoy your vacation! Be good and study well...CIAO!!!

TO ALL INCOMING GRADE 9 LITERATURE STUDENTS...

GREETINGS!

Well...it's almost the day that marks the beginning of the rest of your life...I sure hope you are all ready for it...I certainly am!

I would like to apologize for not having been able to follow up on the blogs anymore after the last posting I did when I was back in the States. Anyways, we still had a great 6-week run of blogging and responding...and all of you who religiously responded to it and kept abreast of the topics and discussions...you definitely earned good credit for your effort.

Our Grade 9 Literature Class will be in room 3-46...Ms. ABI's old room. I will brief you more with our RULES & REGULATIONS when you step in my world on Tuesday, 14 August 2007, for my Blue Day Group, and on Wednesday, 15 August 2007, for my Green Day Group.

First Day Agenda...Literary Terms Test...around 50 of the 82 terms...be ready! I want you to please have your Literature 9 textbook, WSP, pencil case (if you have one), and a notebook with you when you enter my class...that's all! I DO NOT WANT any backpacks, school bags, handbags, or any other stuff as you enter my room. In short, have a PADLOCK and lock it in your lockers...if you decided to leave it outside and it gets lost...that's not going to be my problem anymore since I have already stated this here now...!

Questions are being asked on which story do we deal with first out of the three required books I asked you to read over the summer...the answer to that is we are going to draw lots and find out on Tuesday and Wednesday...I hope this clarifies it.

I guess that's it...see you all bright and early next week...ready to "Rock-N-Roll" and "Face The Music"...! Take care and be safe and send my regards to your parents...CIAO!!!
